Should my teenager self-quarantine? It will be very difficult to justify without a reliable source.

Current guidelines are really encouraging us to be prudent about social distancing.


While it may vary based on region (for example San Francisco has just put a 24 hour lockdown in place), the safest thing to do for the community is to avoid such gatherings. Although your teen(s) are likely healthy, if they unwittingly get the virus, they could spread it to others who are in more vulnerable categories.


Perhaps they could connect for a video chat sleepover! Of course, it's not the same, but if each person does their part to practice social distancing, it will slow the rate at which COVID-19 spreads.
