The guidelines are dependent on where you are located.
Based on the current general guidelines (which could change at any time), a self-quarantine is defined as a situation in which you feel fine, but you separate yourself from others because there is a high chance you have contracted the virus. As of right now, the CDC has outlined a few instances when you should self-quarantine:
if you are considered high risk because you have been frequently around someone who has the coronavirus
if you have recently traveled from a place where there has been sustained community transmission of the virus
if you are currently experiencing symptoms
As of right now, if none of those situations apply to you, then you do not need to self-quarantine. However, you should observe the other precautions of frequently washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, engaging in social distancing, etc.
